7 Black Owned Spirituality Shops and Mystic Resources

Last week brought us to a new astrological season: Cancer season. The stars and planets colluded for new and exciting beginnings thanks to the heartfelt and nurturing influence of the watery crab. Last Sunday, the new moon entered into Gemini as well, which gives an overall encouraging nudge towards communal experiences like loving and ideating between those you hold close during these times. And let’s not forget the solar eclipse that happened last Saturday. Eclipses are generally honored for their intense and powerful nature. This particular eclipse, which has coincidently occurred a day after the Summer Solstice, advises all to reflect and clarify on one’s own life path and mission in the world. Respect the place you hold, honor the responsibilities you have been entrusted upon, and always move with love for yourself and others.
Below is a brief list of seven shining Black-owned spiritual shops where you can find the resources you need to celebrate the universe and yourself. Happy Solstice!

1130 Chandlery is a budding Black-owned business based in The Bronx, NY. Eleven, owner of the shop, handmakes candles from 100% natural coconut and vegetable waxes, as well as herbs that have been consciously harvested and arranged. Their specialty includes creating uniquely tinted green candles with smells they describe as “earthy, milky, sweet” and mugwort and lavender smudges. I recently purchased their tapered mugwort candle and am looking forward to lighting these lovely pieces for my morning and evening meditations. You can also check them out on their Instagram.
Capri’s Apothecary is a Black and queer-owned holistic shop where every butter, soap and oil is handmade and personally mixed and packaged for the consumer. The owner of the shop, Capri, has been pursuing a holistic and sustainable lifestyle for the last five years, which has inspired a lot of their work. You can check them out on Instagram for inquiries and purchases.
Mystical Ritual is another gem on Etsy owned by Heidi Nyx. Despite recently setting up their Etsy shop this year, they have been selling their product online since 2010 and accept custom orders upon request. Heidi sells a diverse set of mystical products, from handmade candles, oils and crystals to witchcraft starter kits. Some of the most intriguing items posted on the shop are their Love Conjuring Bath Salt jars and Hex Breaker Spell bottles. Heidi has some heavy-duty material for heavy-duty situations, so don’t fret when you need a little magical helping hand in life.
If you’re looking for jewelry that encapsulates your inner goddess or god, look no further than Raven-Lewis’ Etsy shop. With over 200+ sales and a staggering amount of 5-star ratings, Raven provides beautifully-made handcrafted necklaces, bracelets, rings, and so much more. Though their shop's focus is on jewelry, they also offer candles, loose crystals and herbs. I purchased their Blue Jade Buddha Pendant Necklace and their Custom Zodiac and Crystal Necklace Set, which are unfortunately no longer in stock. I am particularly finicky when it comes to purchasing jewelry for myself, so I was very relieved to find something I liked wholeheartedly. For images of past orders, check out their Instagram.
Seven Gems is an Oakland-based, one-stop-shop for all things crystals has been admired by over 2,500 Etsy shoppers and has made nearly 500 sales since establishing their shop in 2019. Some of their featured items include self-standing Galaxy Amethyst clusters and a Toothless figurine made from Obsidian.
Kristine “Kat” Simmons is the owner of Simmkatwares Etsy store, which primarily hosts an assortment of crystals from geodes to palm stones to points. They have crystals like Jasper, Quartz, Amethysts and more of all different colors and sizes. I currently have a few quirky Pink Amethyst clusters in my Etsy cart. To keep up with their stock or request a tarot reading, follow their Instagram.
Daizy October is an Ancestral Astrologer, Diviner, and L.A.’s Hoodoo woman. She is known for her spiritual practices but also as the originator of the #Blitch movement on social media. A ‘Blitch’ is a Black witch who uses African thought and spiritual tradition to practice healing, Divination, and other spiritual activities. The term is used to reclaim Black spirituality and religious traditions that have been co-opted by colonizers and cultural appropriators. Primarily, Daizy offers readings and spellwork. Whether you need an astrological birth chart reading, rootwork, or the classic tarot reading, it’s all listed on her site.
